In this Chapter, it starts off with Peeta and Katniss in the Cave, they sharing some of the food that they had gotten from a parachute.
Opening Sentence: After eating their food, they rest while talking about how their lives might change if they won the Hunger Game. They also talk about their relationship with Haymitch, and how he might have won the Hunger Game himself. They keep this relax mood until nightfall comes.
Initial incident: When they talk about the death of Thresh, they were saddened by it and showed their true emotion. The rest of the night, they were taking shifts on night watch. In the morning they finish off the remaining food and go out to hunt for food. They both decided to split up. So Peeta could look for berries, while Katniss could hunt animals.
Rising action: After she found food, Katniss tried to call for Peeta to make sure he was okay, but there was no response.
Climax: Then she rushed over to him, she worried something might have happened by Cato.
Falling action: When she fond out him, he simply said, “I didn’t hear the call.” She was angry and she didn’t forgive him. Then they find out that Peeta indirectly killed FoxFace with poisonous berries he had found.
Conflict: Katniss had a conflict with Peeta. While they were hunting for food, she was angry with him because he didn’t answer her calls which made her think that he died. Although she was relived when she found out he was okay, she was still angry with his recklessness.
Connection: Text to Text: Connection from text to text is how deadly nature can be to mankind. Text to World: Connection from text to world is the mentality people adopt when they are on TV. Text to self: When Katniss tried to call Peeta to make sure he was okay, but there was no response. When I am calling my children for something to important, they didn’t response my call.
Questions: 1. What is your opinion about Peeta didn’t response to Kitniss call? 2. Do you believe some kind of berries have poisoned? 3. Do you think they are going to win this game?
Initial incident: Katniss and Peeta are talking about to not to eat the berries because they are poisoned, and how to use them against Cato, then thinking for shelter, they decide to back to the cave. Peeta slept the whole night and when he wake up, Katniss and Peeta start guessing about he forced final; it could be close to the lake or in an open, but this time “Two against one. Should be a piece of cake.” Says Peeta. They go to the Cornucopia and than to the lake. “There’s no point of hiding now.”(328 end).
Climax: The chapter ends whit a climax. Cato found Katniss and Peeta and he is running to face them. She shoots an arrow but he is wearing armor. Cato pass them running with the same speed. Katniss sees that Cato looks tired of escaping from something, and than big animals appear from the forest, so all three run for their lives.
Conflicts: Character vs. Nature: They are living in the forest for The Hunger Games, hunting and collecting food to eat, and water to survive. Character vs. Character: Katniss and Peeta against Cato. They are enemies of the game. Hiding and hunting at each other to death.
Connections: Text to text: In “The Lord of the Ring (The Two Towers)” Human are being chased by orcs and the orcs use a huge wild dogs to kill the humans. Text to the world: Scientist has developed the clonation, may be soon, the genetic alteration of animals and create new species.
Question: The characters should join in a group against the beasts?
