GROUP BLOG PRESENTATION INSTRUCTIONS: Group Presentations

The Hunger Games – Theme Analysis Seminars

Process:

In 7 groups of 3-4 students, teams will tackle issues and themes presented by the text. Each group will be responsible for:

1. Preparing a 6-10 min seminar (minimum two (2) minutes per person);
2. Facilitating a class discussion covering their assigned chapters'
3. Providing a handout/blog post covering the main points of the presentation.

Items to Cover:

·        Brief summary of the Four Elements (Plot, Character, Setting and Theme)

·        Conflicts and Resolutions

·        Connections: Text to text, text to world, text to self

·        Discussion Questions (at least three)

Must Sees:

·        6-10 min presentation

·        Provide a handout/blog post to represent items covered in presentation

·        While this is a group assignment, individual marks will be assessed therefore each member must have an equal contribution to the studies, work and presentation.

4) Chapters 16-18: Asha, Mohammad and Nooria
5) Chapters 19-21: Shamaz, Bokretsion, and Horacio
6) Chapters 22-24: Alan, Indrani, and Khadija
7) Chapters 25-27: Jun Jack, Sophia, and Wei

Work Periods and Presentation Day:

• Students will have class time to prepare their presentations on Friday July 19th, 2013.
• Presentations will take place on Monday July 22nd, 2013

Evaluation Criteria

Presentation	Voice	Voice is clear and articulate; volume is appropriate for the setting. Avoidance of slang and filler words (umm, ahh, like). Pace of speech is measured to ensure clarity. Varied voice inflections are used for effect.

	Body Language	Appropriate and professional manner utilized in presentation style. Creativity of delivery to enhance audience engagement. Eye contact maximized throughout.

Content	Argument	Well developed ideas are presented in a logical manner and delivery order. Arguments focus on the significance and importance of ideas not simply their existence. Content is informative and insightful.

	Content	Well supported arguments are made with specific evidence from the text. Literary devices are developed with depth. Evidence is sighted and referenced.

Visual Component: Handout – Rubric (Group Marked)

                       

Content	Project demonstrates a thorough analysis of the elements of a short story within the selected portions of the text. Observations are well supported with evidence from the text. Conclusions are significant and insightful.

Presentation	Final product demonstrates a high degree of thought and creativity. Layout is designed with purpose to capture audience’s attention. Several different visual examples are employed to ensure relay of information is clear.
